Howdy! From Petersburg Alaska!

I've successfully made my way from east Texas all the way to Petersburg Alaska!

I am working with the US Forest Service doing a Temporary Timber Sale Preparation Job.

I will be working mainly on Kupreanof Island, which is directly across the Wrangell Narrows from Mitkof Island (where I'll be living in Petersburg).

We take a ~30 minute boat ride daily down the narrows to go between the Petersburg dock and the dock on Kupreanof Island.

I have already taken hundreds (ok... thousands...) of photos! The best of them will be uploaded to the internets for all to see!

I've been great! Got my degree in Forestry, a job giving me applicable experience, and I still get to live in my college town with all my old buddies (till they leave for bigger and better things)!

Wow, good for you! I actually went to a college about a year ago for Fisheries and Wildlife, but unfortunately I found that it was not something I could do (on account of my inability to learn math and science XD) So I left and went to a community college near home where I discovered American Sign Language. I don't have the money to continue my education right now, so I'm working full time, but someday I really would like to get a degree in ASL.
My family's great. Everyone's doing well and it seems like everyone's getting married all of a sudden! Two of my brothers are getting married within the next two years- including Anthony! I'm so happy for him ^_^

Yea its funny, I thought I'd be escaping math by doing Forestry. I mean, what math could there possibly be for trees?!? Well... apparantly its 90% math! But mostly its simple calculations of trees/acre and sizes to sample plots, with some intricate lumber(or otherwise processed wood)/acre calculations.
Its great to hear someone's interested in sign language! My sister is teaching her infants to sign, because they can sign before they can talk, which definitly helps in communication! Maybe when you get your degree you can help other parents teach their kids to sign!
